Natural Timber Veneers
Timber veneer board is a thin layer of timber of uniform thickness. It is formed by either slicing or rotary peeling natural timber which is then glued to a substrate such as particleboard, MDF board or plywood. This process produces a decorative board that’s easier to use, more cost effective, and more environmentally friendly than solid timber.
Timberwood Panels Brendale stock more than 40 species of natural timber veneer boards on a variety of substrates. We also stock a full range of matching edging to suit every veneer. Whether you’re looking for a natural timber veneer or the latest man made veneers from the New Age Veneer, Trugrain, Innato or Eveneer Veneer ranges, Revolution Wood Panels has you covered.
NATURAL VENEERS
Natural veneer reflects the species of timber and log from which it comes, ensuring a wide range of features which allow for a selection to suit every need. In Australia there are more than 100 varieties and species of veneers from which we source from both native and imported timber varieties to ensure the unique beauty of natural timber.
At Timberwood Panels Brendale, this is our area of expertise. We are unrivalled in our professional approach and stock holding of our natural timber veneered board range.
Natural veneer is available in a variety of different forms and cuts resulting in different grain patterns. Being a natural product it is important to note that the same timber species can vary significantly in colour and grain, therefore there may be need for batch control samples to be utilised in some instances.
We are pleased to present our range of natural veneer species and invite you to use our revolutionary filtering tool below to select the appropriate species for your application & needs.
Please note that colour & grain depicted in images are indicative only and may not be accurately demonstrated in photographic form. We recommend that you view samples or stock from our Brendale Warehouse.

RECONSTITUTED VENEERS
Reconstituted (man made) veneers are manufactured from readily available timbers such as Poplar, Obeche, or Bamboo, which are normally plantation grown. The timber logs from these varieties are peeled into veneers, which are then dyed, dried, re-laminated together and then re-sliced into veneers to form controlled ‘grain’ patterns.
The main advantage of reconstituted veneer is that the veneer has excellent consistency in colour and repeated grain pattern.

RECONSTRUCTED NATURAL VENEERS
Reconstructed natural veneers are made from undyed, sustainable natural veneer species. This method of production produces premium veneers from low grade and waste raw veneer material. The material is re-laminated and bonded together, then the veneer block is sliced across its laminated face to produce a straight grained decorative grade veneer.
Careful mixing of veneers during the laminating process ensures that the reconstructed natural veneer is usually consistent in grain and colour for hundreds of sheets. There will always be some minor colour and grain variation between blocks, but far less than the variations found in natural veneers.
PRE-FINISHED VENEERS
Pre-finished veneers are veneers supplied in a laminate form that are pre-finished and ready for use. The veneer may be plain natural veneer, stained or limed natural veneer, reconstructed or dyed veneer. The veneer face may be sanded smooth or have an enhanced grain texture created, such as by sand-blasting or wire-brushing. The face is finished with a clear coating, such as melamine film, UV cured coatings, cross-linked acrylics or a 2-pack polyurethane. The type of finish used will determine the degree of scratch resistance, resistance to yellowing and fading (which is also influenced by the veneer type) and moisture-resistance.
The finishing processes are quality controlled in the factory in a way that’s difficult for normal cabinet makers to achieve, giving consistency across projects. This means there’s no need to worry about polishing at the fabrication stage, which represents a major cost saving. Specifiers are able to understand the texture and nuances of the timber finish they wish to specify, plus they can see the final finish beforehand. The result is savings in time and money, with less risk and more confidence about how the final product is going to look.
Other advantages of pre-finished veneers include:
- Ready to be applied to the normal range of substrates.
- Able to be bent around curves (subject to radius required).
- More scratch resistant than ordinary polished veneer panels.
